Once both my kids knew how to skate their father built them their own rink in the backyard. They both loved the rink but their styles were so different.
Girl was all “I’m a princess – watch me glide”
Boy was all “Slippery ice!!! Cool !!! Watch me curl up in a ball and streak across the ice like a hockey puck!!!”
Girl was all “Stop it – I can’t twirl when you do that!” Of course Boy and Girl both loved sitting outside on the outside balcony stairs with a mug of hot chocolate.
Free advice for the next generation – building a rink takes mucho commitment and cold-weather stamina!
